Removing braking system

We are going to sell our Class A motor home so we will not be towing our Jeep Cherokee any longer. Would it be better to have an RV dealer remove the system from the Jeep or the Jeep dealer ?
The RV dealer is the one who installed it and we weren’t happy with dealing with them.
Thank you
  • I would have a RV dealer do it, a jeep dealer most likely has never installed or removed one EVER.
  • To answer your question, if it was me, I would use the Jeep dealer as they are more familiar with the vehicle. That said, the RV dealer is not a bad second option provided you verify that they will use an experienced technition and not just asign it to the most junior employee with minimal experience.

Another option is a 3rd party Auto Repair Company, but the same warning applies about making sure an experienced (> 3rd yr apprentice) tech.
  • Although they may be capable of figuring it out and doing the job, the Jeep dealer probably knows little to nothing about the tow car supplemental braking system. Therefore, to answer your question I'd say find any place that installs the same braking system. If you are uncomfortable with the place you initially used, find another dealer.

  • I just want to have the option so I wanted opinions of Jeep dealer vs RV dealer.
    Thanks

Unless you plan to sell it NO need to remove it.. Just so you know.
  • Thanks for all the comments. Great ideas!
But if we did decide to have it removed, would it be better to have the Jeep dealer remove it or an RV dealer ? Just exploring our options.
    Thanks
  • You may want to wait till you sell the class A. Might be able to sell them together.
Might also sell it with the break system in to folks looking for a jeep to tow.
  • What kind of system is it? Most can be removed by anyone with basic tools.
