Renting RV in Alaska - Which one

We are going to rent an RV in alaska and we have a choice of the follow two. Only a difference in 2 feet. Either a 22 or 24 foot. we will have it a week. (novice motorhome people!).

But the layout is different and we are struggling (mainly because probably not a big difference) to us. It is just 2 (1 couple) traveling and we are short so the bed size is not a big deal.

The biggest thing is one has a couch, the other doesn't.
One has a bed in the back and one doesn't.

Would love suggestions/pros and cons for the layout as I am sure you guys have more experience with the layouts.

    Although I don't like corner beds, I would choose the 24'. The main reason is that I am an early bird and DW likes to sleep in. The rear bed is a little isolated from the rest of the MH. In addition, in the spring/summer it doesn't get dark in Alaska. It is easier to make the rear bed dark.

    Your choice, is the couch or bed more important to you. I find the bed important, don't use the couch much, and it makes a poor bed and poor couch in my C. But for my wife, the couch was important, as was the bed, so I had to get get a much bigger RV than I think I need, for her comfort, while she still lived.

    24' definitely. You can store stuff in the overcab bed in the front, or if you need more room one can sleep in the bed in the back and one in the bed over the cab. The bed in the back is not so hot for 2 people. One is crammed inside next to the window and if you have to get up during the night you either have to crawl over the other person or they have to get up. The U-Shaped dinette will also be more comfortable. I don't think you will notice 2' when driving it.

    We have a 24 ft C, I sleep up top. and the DW on the dinette bed. This works great for us.

    If you both plan to sleep in the same bed. The only option, is the cabover bed in the 22 ft.

    If you are like us, you will find that to be a poor option. My DW felt cluastrophic up top, so that was a problem.

    As well as if one has to potty, or gets up early, you are climbing all over each other. Which is made more difficult by the low ceiling clearance.

    To me, that is the big factor, in which one you choose. Couch or not, would probably not be a big deal

    If you were buying it definately say the 24, but for a week, you two will have fun with eithier

    Ivylog..are you just throwing out another idea instead of the RV.

    As of now we are going to a fly in place..for 3 nights..then the RV for 7 nights then another fly in camp for 3 nights..

    I would not worry about driving it as the roads in AK are not narrow. The only wat to see the lower part of AK is by boat or air so taking a cruise back south is what I've done several times. Prices will come down the closer they get to sailing.

    Great idea on the UHAUL. we were going to try and find the exact models around to go look at them..but we think we really have seen them before (when we were looking at them to buy).
    Even thought about renting for a weekend if we found one..but haven't found one yet in the area to rent.

    SO it is just thinking it through on which one. Thanks for the ideas..keep em coming!

    FYI in case I didn't say it..$150.00 more (not significant, but 150.00 more) for the 24…but I don't think that would be the deciding factor..unless we can't decide :)
