Replace house batteries?

I posted a question yesterday regarding the fact that the largest slide in my 2005 40' DP was barely able to come in the last two times, once when I was on shore power, and once when the gen was running.

Folks have suggested that the slide motor might be going out, or that the batteries need to be replaced. They are the Duracell GC2 with a sticker of "10/8" on them, indicating to me that they are nearing 8 years old. I water them frequently.

I don't mind replacing them, but would hate to do so only to find that they were fine all along! So the question is, how do I test them to make sure? Take one to a garage and have them stress-test it? And if I do remove one, do I need to shut off the entire electrical system, or just remove one and make sure the contacts aren't touching? We're currently in a park with full hookups.

Thanks!
