The valance box Winnebago installs will serve for mounting. That is its function with the OEM blinds, they mount into the top of the box. Small ones with just the factory clip, longer ones into the clip and a couple of extra wood screws driven through the top of the blind into the top of the valance.Most mini-blinds mount into clips that screw up into the top of a window opening or the sides. The clips have screw holes for both mountings, I've installed then both ways in my houses.If you want roller shades or drapes, the mounting hardware will likely have to screw into the ends of the box. Metal or plastic miniblinds work pretty well in towable RVs, but people who put them in motorhomes are sometimes bothered by the noise they make while they travel. Drapes are quite enough, roller shades behave pretty well when rolled up.

Custom miniblinds are usually made to mount inside the window opening, a precise fit. They can be ordered to precisely fit the inside of the valence. If you have something that screws into a wall, it must be an off-the-shelf product to cover the window opening, rather than fit it? Yes, that will be a mounting problem.Roller shades are also custom fit, it was something they used to do right at the store when we still bought them at the hardware or the five and dime. I've not shopped shades or blinds at Walmart, I go to a home decorator outlet.

We have replaced a couple of our Day-Night shades with cordless cellular shades/blinds from Home Depot.Lots of options:Custom ordered for size and color. Light filtering or privacy.No strings, no rattling or noise, easy to mount.

No, actually took the valences out....What a difference, it seemed to OPEN up (looked like cabin was enlarged). While traveling the blinds are up, no bingy bingy, but when stopped pull down. We have the windows tinted, so no biggy. We are completely satisfied-serves our purpose, and look good at the same time.

Yes, they cut them to size at Lowes while I waited, fit perfectly.

Our shades fit into original valance with a small modification on side panels. Needed to cut off 1" from front face of side panel that fits inside top valance. This mod cannot be seen when side panels are installed.

We replaced our shades last fall with slow roller shades. Purchased them from Shade-Man.com. Could not be happier with how they work. We now use shades daily instead of leaving them down because of the pain it was to use pleated shades. Product is similar to MCD.

Replaced ours with Levelors cellular from Lowes Custom Size Now by Levolor little pricey but very good.

Replaced mine with Budget Blinds...came out measured, and installed a week later. Very satisfied.

This online store has form to fill out that takes the exiting RV valence into account. Then they custom build it. They have remote control ones also for RVs.
