Rv insurance

Does anyone know the difference between car insurance for a Rv versus RV insurance for a Rv :h

Progressive RV Insurance covers a lot of things for a premium that State Farm & Allstate will not cover such as personal property (cloths, computers, etc.), predetermined total loss covereage & campground liability.

I changed from State Farm to Progressive because their road emergency service was much broader & better defined as far as where they will tow my MH to if needed. My premium wasn’t any higher and has not changed much in the last 5 years.

Allstate covers the contents. I picked 1500.00 coverage because we are not full time but it was my choice. They cover theft and other damage that comprehensive would cover.

This is going to be a ford - chevy kind of topic, I can see it now. I have all state and they assured me that my comprehensive would cover anything on the coach that is damaged. Usually the argument is that only an RV specialized insurance will cover stuff like the awning. My Allstate fixed the inside after a water leak damaged the whole back wall in a prior 5er. It has been good so far.

I'm curious how you approached the water leak in your old 5er? I have water damage and called my Allstate rep and it took them about 2 minutes to say not covered, thus us a maintenance issue. Thanks

I just told them what happened. The 5er had not been used in about 4 months. I had no idea when the leak started but when I discovered it the back wall was damaged inside. I paid to fix the roof where the leak was ($300) and they fixed the damage from the leak ($3500). I had full coverage and all my cars, ATVs, house and the 5er with them. It was not a problem. I just had my inverter blown by a mis-wired storage lot elec. connection. No questions asked. I made the claim but the lot stepped up and covered it so I canceled the claim with Allstate. I'm happy so far. Covered by them for over 20 years.
  • Check here: Auto-Owners Insurance
They cover my Class A with agreed upon value coverage that includes $5000 for items inside the coach. They also insure my toad and another vehicle that I own. They will write the policy for one year, vrs six months for some companies.

  • I went with Good Sam, National Insurance Co., over AAA because they insured my mh as a house so I have full coverage for the mh and all the contents plus I have liability in case someone gets hurt in or around my mh. All I could get with AAA was coverage for the mh in an accident, nothing for the contents or liability if someone gets hurt.

    He didn't say they COVERED it...he just said they 'fixed' it....at least that's what I read....just sayin...Dennis

To the OP...If you ever have a claim and call the claims center your answer most likely will be obvious. Think deer in the headlights.....I had a nightmare claim until they transferred me to the RV claims agent. The original adjuster had no clue about motor homes....that said, several years ago I had excellent service from AAA on a motorhome claim, but I lucked out by getting a supervisor......Dennis
