RV Parks near Washington DC

Aquia Pines south of the city is a possibility.

If you are interested, you could always camphost at Greenbelt (National) Park. It is maybe 8 miles from the city, 3 from Cherry Hill. They are always looking for hosts and the work is rather easy for a host job (locking a gate, checking on campers, answering questions). They offer full hookups for the host and the park is pretty dead all winter (it is dry camping so not many people stay).

We have stayed at the KOA midway between Baltimore and Washington. Don't know if they have extended stay discounts.

We've stayed at Cherry Hill twice. Once in 2007 & then wintered again there in 2010-11. They had reduced weekly rates and it goes down in the winter. So call someone and tell them you are going to stay a full year and need a quote on rates.

We racked up the GS CC Rewards points that year paying weekly rate, plus electric. In 2007, we took a day trip up to the Hershey Show.

We stayed at the Cedarville State Forest - Brandywine, Maryland. This is a few miles south of the DC loop which means that it is quiet and still close enough to drive in to the city. The parking sites are paved, as are all of the interior roads. Deer may wander through your parking area. Pets are allowed and they have a clean and modern rest room and shower facility, if they are needed. It is very wooded so be sure to ask for a site that will allow you to use your Satellite antenna. It is patrolled regularly by forest rangers to help you if you have any questions. Restaurants and shopping is a short drive outside the gate. Cost is about $25/day.

You can try this place. It is about an hour of so south of DC and easy to get to. They have spaces up to 40'. I called and they do year around stays for full timers. Hope this helps you out.

Try mobile home parks, call to see if they accept RVs in addition to permanent manufactured housing. This will depend to some extent on housing codes that vary locally.

You might have to expand your idea of what is the "DC Area." With respect to residential areas for people who commute daily to the Capitol, DC area now encompasses most of Maryland west of the Chesapeake (including Baltimore) and in Virginia as far as Winchester to the west, Fredericksburg to the south.

The further you get from the District itself, the more likely that property values are low enough for either RV parks or trailer parks. College Park is so costly because it is so close.
