Schwintec Slide Maintainance
Every year I use the recommended CRC Power Lube on our 2015 Winnebago Vista's Schwintec slides. There are several videos online showing how to do it. Before lubricating them I find that a small "Can't Believe It's Not Butter" tub makes a perfect container for some mineral spirits that I apply with a 1" chip brush to clean off the old lube and dirt from the aluminum tracks, holding the tub right below where I am cleaning. This year the largest slide began to make a squealing noise as it moved back and forth. What I found was the carpet on the "shoe" under the inside center of the slide had become totally compressed and polished from supporting the inside of the slide as it moves in and out. This was making noise as it slid across the vinyl flooring. I found Home Depot carries the same unbacked carpet on 12 foot rolls. I bought one foot of it and used contact cement to glue it in place of the old, worn carpet. You pretty much need something without backing to easily wrap it around the aluminum block. Now I have to do the other two but the first is now working quietly like new again.
