side windows leak

Two of the windows on the side of my MH leak on the inside at the bottom during very, very heavy rains. I have cleaned the drain holes and even added additional drain holes. I have also caulked around the outside of the window. Again they only leak during very heavy rains, so is something causing the water to back up? Any ideas????

What rockhillmanor explained is the main cause. When the window channel can't drain fast enough is another problem. I have to remove my rubber sliders in the window channel because mold grows there and have to clean it out to improve the water draining out to the weep holes.
  • It will depend on how you are parked.

I had the same problem and even though my MH was level to my comfort the side the windows kept leaking during heavy storms WAS a tad lower causing the water to run off the roof over that window to that point of the roof faster and heavier than the weep holes could handle.

Solution....I re-leveled the MH with that side a tad higher and the water stopped coming in. And I mean it was ever so little of an adjustment. Go figure.

You can actually see if you stand outside during a storm the volume of water running off the roof to be more in one place. Thankfully changing the angle of the MH rectifies the problem.

Weep holes are designed/tested to drain water from rain not from a waterfall directly over it which is what can happen when the angle of the RV is not perfectly 110% level. :W

I often wonder how many people get talked into replacing windows when it really was not necessary.
  • I thought I had a leak coming from the window on one end of my LR slide-out. Turns out it was condensation on the inside, filling and over flowing the "trough" where a screen might be placed if it were a window that could be opened

  • Is something causing excessive amounts of water from the roof to cascade down over the windows?

It's also possible that the leak is somewhere else, like on the roof, and water is running down the inside of the wall, around the window frame, and making it to the inside at the lower edge of the window. Make sure you don't have low spots that are draining poorly during heavy rain.

sounds like the weep hole covers aren't draining fast enough.
