Slide Topper, Vinyl or Acrilic

I am attempting to replace my slide topper. Not sure whether to use vinyl or acrilic and cant really tell what is on it now as it is pretty rotten. Has anyone done this themself and how difficult is it? The youtube vid shows it being done and dosent seem to hard to do
