I'm beginning to think it's wiser to keep an older RV and fix it up rather than laying out a ton of money for a new one, especially with the complaints you see on here about the poor quality of the new RV's.
At least with your older one you know where all the problems were and what to look for in the future.
Precisely. We know her very, very well. We anticipate certain things wearing out, so when they do, it's not a surprise.
The only surprise so far was in 2015, when the Texas Panhandle wind ripped the fiberglass roof off. Winnebago had not actually glued the fiberglass to the roof, but attached it only via side seams and where the through-roof stuff was (A/C, air vents, etc.). The repair was to directly attach the new fiberglass onto the roof. It's never gonna come off.
Not having payments is also a good thing. We can set that amount aside each month for the repair kitty.
