Was coming through Colorado 160 today and suddenly my 2013 ford f 53 would not pull motor revved trans shifted but would not do over 50mph. Motor noise was tremendous, gauges read perfect just would not go. Pulled over half way up mountain and went through Ford manual, nothing. Got back on the road and same thing for 1/2 mile the just as if you had flipped a switch motor quieted down and she took off like jack the bear. Any Ideas??

Sunflare? UFO close encounter? Government testing of ultra high wave frequencies? Northern Lights? Full moon? Zombies? Bad fuel?

Almost sounds like and over temp limp mode but that would show on the dash gauges and fault lights. Next chance you get have the power train codes pulled. You could have had a problem that didn't show up on the dash but there could be a code in memory. Just don't disconnect the chassis battery or any codes could be cleared.

Sounds normal if you were going up a steep grade mountain then start back down.

What altitude were you at? High altitude, going up grade may be normal.

I wonder if the cooling fan kicked on from pulling the grade

Maybe it got hot and the tranny downshifted to keep the engine rpms up for better cooling.

Makes sense. Clutch fan noise? Had a Pace Arrow on an F53 chassis.

the noise part maybe but not the fact the engine revs and wont go over 50MPH then suddenly speeds up and runs normal

OP Update, was nothing left to do but hit the road. We headed west up and over Wolf Creek Pass 10800ft. She went up like a champ and topped out at 30 mph In 3rd gear. Put it in tow haul and went down the other side the same way, 30mph in 3rd gear Always go down a hill in the same gear you came up.
