Sunseeker 2250S wheel liners

While I'd heard these wheel liners from Pacific Dualies would not fit a '16 Sunseeker 2250slec (on a '15 Chevrolet chassis), I'd seen other posts in various forums where people were installing these without issue.

Our favorite on-line retailer had a great price:

We ordered the set on Wednesday, and they arrived today via USPS. They were shipped from western Washington to north-western Oregon - gee, what took 'em so long? B^)

I was working from home, and while waiting for a database init to load, I decided to monitor the cell while installing the new ones. It's a very nice day out today in the Pacific North-wet, so off to the barn I went with box & cell in hand, naturally!

The hardest part of this task was getting the old ones to pop loose. They were factory installed... and had been there for some time. After removing the old, I verified which 4 nuts needed removing & found the fronts to be a little loose. Once I installed the new liners on on each wheel, I torqued all 8 nuts to 140 Ft lbs per spec.

The Pacific Dualies are very nice, but they could have had a nicer pair of screws to attach the hub covers to the liners. While they are stainless Philips flat-heads, I'll purchase a nice set of stainless pan-head with an allen drive. These are 10mm by about 15mm long (around 1/2 inch).

All in all, a perfect fit!

I'm on the Forest River Owners Forums as well - usually in the Forester & Sunseeker forums. It's a good board, but I'm sure glad I have an ad-blocker - I visited the site once on another platform w/o a blocker, ugg! RV.net has a lot of ads I never see either, but far less than the Forest River group.

Naturally, Bruce!
  • That particular Chevy had handling issues, but the vast majority are well behaved. Ours handles like a dream. It was an absolute pleasure driving it home after herding the Ford between the fencerows for so many years even after throwing lots of money at it.

Ron, I agree, the newer Ford styles are, in my opinion as well, downright ugly. They have huge features to appeal to the testosterone set... and they really didn't change anything in the way of handling.
  • I always appreciated the style of the Chevy chassis, both inside and outside.

Our 2007 Ford is okay with the aftermarket add-ons.

But the current day Ford E-series with the monster grill dump truck look & funny lights has been difficult to accept. It's been 8 years since it's introduction and I still can't get used to how ugly it looks.
  • Yes mine has a sway bar but there was a Thread a few days ago about a bad handling Chevy Based RV and it seems that there are some that don't have one, mine has one and handles very well.

Very nice Grill! One of the first things I did to spruce up that sporty look,it just seemed to fit

Lookin Good! It really sets of the RV, I like my Pacific Dualies and after over 4 years they still look like new as they should.

All your mods look great. A quick question Bruce, did your Chevy Based RV come with a rear sway bar?

That it did. I take it yours did not?

The only chassis mod I'll do fairly soon is replace the front shocks, or maybe all four.

Along with the new grill insert, the new Sunseeker is looking pretty nifty!

So true. I like the idea of the Alcoa wheels, but I also like to rotate the tires once a year as a rule. The Alcoa wheels stay in fixed locations.
Yes you are right, the Alcoa wheels cannot be rotated. But I never rotate RV tires anyway, so they would work well for me.

I don't rotate the tires because they'll be replaced sooner from age rather than from wear. We have 30,000 miles on our Michelins and they are wearing very nicely in their original positions....best to leave well enough alone.

They look good, just like the same kind do on our....FORD

    They do look nice, however!

This is what came on the Sunseeker:

I'd already had it up to my eyebrows with those "ford" covers on the Ford.
  • Our Phoenix Cruiser came with similar looking wheel covers. Admittedly they are very nice looking. Even still, when it's time for new tires, I've been contemplating 4 new Alcoa wheels to go with them...2 polished inside, 2 polished outside, hub caps and lug nuts....the whole gamut.

I guess it's human nature....wherever you are, you want to get one step higher.
