This is one famous phrase I've become accustom to on this class A forum. It starts at about 10 years and over. Honestly do some of you believe this? Personally I believe if someone keeps the maintenance up 20 years isn't unheard of, even longer. Getting parts might be problematic but surely workarounds could be made. Or is this really more of a status issue? Why would people spend their life savings on something that in a decade or so is a heap of trash? Seriously, some people have some huge amounts of cash tied up on these class A's. I've seen my share of well aged MH's on the roads and in campgrounds. I'm not buying the it isn't worth it - it's too old - the body will fall off around the engine crowd. What say you?

To each his/her own. I have no problems with older MH. Last spring we sold our 87 Allegro to our friends and it looks as nice as any MH out there because it was maintained. We bought an 03 Class C and it has some minor issues with decals, but we paid $7000 less then book and it is paid for. If I had the money I would buy a 1 or 2 year old MH and not worry about it at all. If someone has the finances to pay $$$$ for a MH that's their business and I don't care what others think of my rig. It's mine, it's paid for, and it looks good.

I haven't heard of that saying before, but then I lead a very sheltered life. Mine's a 2005 and I can garuntee you it will make a lot more than 10 years (unless I do something stupid to it of course).Bill

hell, mine was 10 years old when I purchased it....I saw some new ones a year ago at the Good sam rally at Daytona. The salesman asked why I hadn't bought a newer coach yet? I asked why, mine is like new, real wood not fake, and is a high end coach.....I didn't even see any I liked except for the Entegra coaches...

I have a 1975 Motorhome and a 1964 and 1968 travel trailer, they are all fully functional.:)

Mine is 10 years old this year and see no reason why it will not go another 10-15 without any major repairs which should do it for me. That said, my role model is a couple from SC that bought a new Beaver DP at 84 and drove it to OR in three days to attend a Beaver rally. She was limping from having broken a leg snow skiing that winter.Nine years ago the only way to get four slides was buying one that was fairly new. Other than full wall slides there has not been any major changes in this area in the last 10 years. Assuming a fiberglass roof (no leaks) and stored under cover MHs could well last 50 years... like Airstream TT. My airplane is 35 years old and other than a upgraded radio I have not spent any major money on it in the 33 years I've owned it. Storing our toys inside is probably the best thing we can do for them.

The engine will last but the coach isn't worth it

Well mine is 15 years old, it is still very solid, everything works, roof still in good shape and it gets compliments on how good the paint job looks. I don't think it is going to fall apart in the next 5 years. Oh yeah it has 96,500 miles on it.

Hi--fully agree--it is all in how you take care/maintain. We drive our 1992 Itasca Toyota full-time and everything is just as it was out of the showroom. We summer in our 1950 Spartan Mansion trailer--it too is in great shape 63 years and going strong. Happen to believe older is better and certainly cheaper than buying new.

Bought ours new 10 years ago with the intention of 20 years of full timing. Half way there. :)

Bought Our 98 DSDP 4 Years ago. it isn't pristine and wasn't when We bought her, but She runs great and the Inside ,although dated is in excellent shape.

I think She will still be rolling along in another 10 Years...I might not be!

Oh yeah .. have only made one payment!
