The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly part deux

In my search for a the best quality of a motor home without breaking my bank I've come across a 2005 Safari Cheetah M38PDQ with 18K miles. Nice looking motor home, but in doing a little research 2 things came to my attention. Mention of problems with the Cat. ( I believe C-7 motor ) ad says 350hp Cat engine. Also I saw something about trailing arms an issue.

Can you folks with knowledge about these issues or that have a like motor home please tell me more about them. Just want to add that these are possible problems that I came across in doing some research on the net, not things that were mentioned wrong with the home in the ad.

Thanks,
Joe
  • My motorhome has a Cat engine and the engine has never given me a single problem. I've done nothing but routine maintenance on it.

It is a RR4R and included in the recall. Buyer beware. Will need new tires too.
  • Can't help with the Cat question, but on the chassis, you need to find out which chassis it has. If it is the R4R Roadmaster chassis, you will have to verify that the rear trailing arms have been or need to be replaced. If it is the R4R, do a search for trailing arms on this site, IRV2 forum and the FMCA forum and you will find lots of info on what to change and where to get the parts and what it will cost. You first need to find out what chassis It has. Hope this may help. Happy Trails Bert
