Toyo makes a good tire, as does Sumitomo and Hankook. All much less expensive than Michelin.
I ran toyos on a preivious motorhome, no problems.
Currently running Sumitomos on the rear axle, they haven't lost a pound of air in 3 years. Highly recommended

Stay away from the really cheap china tires though.

I appreciate the responses. But when people say better and cheaper with no more info it is hard to figure out what they are talking about. More info please.

Sorry it took me so long Bill. FMCA had a server go bad and spent most of Monday getting it fixed. Anyway, here's what info I could find for you;

255/80R/22.5 is offered in two tire configurations...XZE and XRV
The main difference is the make up of the tire. The XZE is designed for highway miles, hence it has a 18/32 tread depth and better sidewall construction. The XRV is designed more as a comfort tire, so it has a 16/32 tread depth and softer sidewall construction. It also does NOT have the extra UV protection in the rubber that the XZE has.

That said, here's your prices...they may vary slightly depending on where you are in the country but they should be close.

255/80R/22.5
XZE TL LRG = $ 491.93
XRV LRG = $ 503.10

I recently re-tired my coach with Michelin XZA 255/80R-22.5's The set cost me approx. $3,600, or $1,200 per pair with the FMCA discount. I saved about $200 per tire with the program. The price you got quoted for a pair mounted and balanced seems pretty good. Be sure to check the date codes as you don't want anything older than 6 months and preferably a lot newer.
