My 2009 Majestic 28A Ford E450 with 178k miles has developed a transmission leak. My regular (non-RV specialist) mechanic looked at it and made these comments: "Kinda seems like the bulkhead harness over the transmission is leaking. But also seems like the vent tube is leaking...". He talked to a transmission shop next door and without looking at it, they said their guess is that possibly something going on internally was increasing pressure and creating the leak.
I'm hoping someone on here has experience with transmission leaks and a guess on what it could be. I know very little about transmissions. Not excited about having to potentially replace it. Hoping it could be something minor.

I wouldn't be too concerned. It was pretty common for that bulk head connector to leak. I think the repair was replacing the internal harness. The vent may spit out some fluid if the transmission was overfilled, but hard to comment without seeing it. Looks like you do have pretty high mileage though. Good idea to find a dealer or transmission shop you trust to give you an honest assessment. A shop could clean it up and add dye to the fluid so they can pinpoint the source of the leak. Would be good to remove the pan to see how much trash is in there too. Remember it is a good idea to get problems corrected at home so you dont have to deal with them on a trip.

Krusty, thanks so much for the insights. Obvioulsy, when I saw the leak I started to think the worst. I have some calls in to a couple of shops in the area that handle RVs and have the lifts to look at it. That's the thing that makes it challenging with RVs, with their size not everyone can work on them.
Would love to communicate with you via email if you're open to it. I could send some photos.
