turn signal issue

Question

I have a 2007 Safari Simba on a Workhorse chassis. W-22 with 25,000 miles.  I have not been able to use my motorhome in the past year, however I do drive it 20-30 miles, once a month and run the generator, under load for at least 30 minutes.  Yesterday I took it out for a run.  Within the first mile or so I realized the turn signal indicator lights on the dash were not working.  The cameras were switching depending on which way I was using the turn signals.  By the time I got back to my storage area, turn signals not working at all.  No lights on dash or on front or back of vehicle, cameras not switching and turn signal changer on steering column would return to middle without turning steering wheel. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

My first instinct, from all of my experience, and not being right there, I'd say start checking grounds in that circuit.

If it started with no other issues, and you (or anybody else) didn't do any maintenance of any kind, that's why I say that. It could be the turn signal switch too, but again, not being right there is tough to diagnose, at least for me.

Had the same problem. Cheap trouble shoot is 14 guage wire with gator claps on both ends. Clip one end to the negative side of the chassis battery, with someone at the helm have them try different light functions as you place the other end on the metal edges of the light housings.

If this works just run jumper wires from the light frames to the chassis frame.

The tech who fixed mine said the ground issue is common as MHs have lots of fiber glass and plactic and very little metal in the front cap.

Thanks for ideas.  Had hoped to be able to get to it today.  Just did not work out.  Going out of town on business for the week.  I'll check it out next weekend.  Are windshield wipers ever on the same circuit as the turn signals?
