tv antanna

I noticeed after putting my antenna up and getting up on the roof it was very wobbly. Is this normal or is their something wrong with it?
  • It even has a platform at the base of the roof that wobbles around to.It does seem to be like its loose. It cranks up and down real good all except hearing a spring like stretch or something.I will get around trying the nut soon. Thanks for the replies.
  • The tools are sold on Ebay for pretty cheap. For me, I just modded out a thick 1 inch pipe. I used an angle grinder to cut a deep groove in the pipe itself. It grabbed the nut on 2 sides. Worked nice.
  • It sounds like the nut inside the roof needs to be tightened. You will need to take the handle off, inside the MH, and it takes a special tool that slides up over the shaft and tightens the nut that holds the shaft tight to the inside of the roof. I just had mine done when I had the TV antenna break outside where it feeds into the aluminum arm. Tool is like a 6-8" hollow pipe with 6pt.hex that fits over the nut.
  • There is a nut up inside the rotation mechanics that can become loose. It requires a really deep dish 15/16 socket to tighten. Google for TT1000 antenna tool. I got one from Amazon. With it I can tighten the nut without removing the shaft that raises and lowers the antenna.
  • What kind of antenna Joe? If its the standard crank up there are two small pins/bolts that hold the arm steady. It should not be wobbly. One or both could be loose. The aluminum arm itself is very light gauge and meant to be sacrificed if one forgets to lower it and drives in the up position and hits something solid. In the past I have had to cut off the damaged end and drill new holes.
