used Ventana, good, bad, ugly?

We're in the market to move from our 5'er to a used MH that fits our budget (under 100k). One of the few must have's on my list is a booth dinette, which limits us quite a bit. Based on what I've read regarding reputation we're hoping for a Tiffin or Newmar product.

This weekend we traveled to see an 08 Allegro Bus, with a booth, (asking 100k)which was priced about 10k below others. Upon seeing it in person we discovered why; it looked nothing like the photos or description on the phone, instead it had major neglect inside and out, which would cost thousands to repair. The person was pretty firm on the price, so we walked.

Today we saw an 08 Ventana 3942 advertised. Is anyone familiar with this model that can share the good, bad, ugly and things to look for?

thanks
  • I realize this is an older thread but figured I'd add my two cents anyhow. Within my family we've owned close to ten Newmars. Regardless of age or model, they've all been exceptional. As mentioned above, and supported by my own experience, they are built differently and if maintained will last as long as you care to own them.
  • if Taken care of you will be hard put to find a better motor home than any Newmar product. And yes it is/ was their entry level coach , but it may also have many options that some of higher line coaches have. Depends on hoe it was originally ordered and built.
  • I'll start this by saying I'm a Newmar fan;

    That should be a nice unit. Newmars, and a few others, are built differently. They're not laminated so they can't delaminate.

    The Ventana was the entry level of Newmar diesels, but that doesn't mean its entry level. Also being an '08 it should have Comfort Drive. We have it, I don't think I'd own another MH without it.

    Go take a look at it and let us know what you think.
