vibration

Hi.

I had some vibration in the frame in first between 65 & 70 miles/h and after less.
I thought it was the balancing of the wheel.
this morning I went in a garage specialized in tires.
What he found.
I have off road tires,he did the 6 wheels balancing, changing a bad tire.
it's realy better but little vibration atoll between 65 & 70 miles/h
  • Around here the birds like to hang out underneath my vehicles. It's shady and lots of places to hide under there.

If you're still having vibrations and your tires/wheels aren't the issue, possibly the driveshaft may be out of balance or have a worn u-joint or carrier bearing.

    Why you say that.
I've never say it was on first gear
  • I had some (OK, a lot) of vibration around 65-70 on my last trip. Obviously something was out of balance.

I ordered and installed a set of Centramatic balancers--quite possibly overkill, but I hope to keep the motorhome for a long time, and all the reports are they work well.

While installing them, I discovered that I had the remains of a bird (yes, a bird) smashed around the inside of the right rear inner wheel, between the wheel rim and the brakes. How it got there I have no idea; maybe it though that a nice protected spot to start building a nest or something. Probably that was the cause of the out of balance wheel.

At any rate, after cleaning it out and installing the balancers, it's much, much better...and I can look forward to continued smooth riding.
  • Also. Something else to think about. IF you are still having some vibration in the first 70 miles. "Some" tires develop a "flat" spot when setting over night, or for a few weeks, and if your MH is sitting for a while. That could be part of the problem.
Of course after they warm up the "flat" spot works out, and the vibration goes away.

Good on You AND the Shop!

Hard to find a shop that knows how to solve problems. Most just want to make a big sale or make a snap judgement fix without digging into what's really going on.

Besides, unless that bad tire was made with a lump in it, that's always been there, something in there was getting ready to fly apart and it's great you caught it now.
