Warning about United Shades

Their shades are good quality but BE AWARE they take a valance of 3 inches deep. They will not fit into a Fleetwood motor home which has a valance depth of 2 inches. They advertise fits all RV's it doesn't. These are also sold through blinds chalet. We bought these because their were said to fit and there is no where they state it must have a valance depth of 3 inches, only window width and length. Guess what no returns. Save your $$$

As Terry said, even the MCD shades require a modification on the valences.

Here are ours before and after he finished.

Well, forget that. I'm going to have to go back and review picture posted, since I hardly even do it.

Here is a link to my blog page which shows multiple pictures of the blinds.

I had custom Alan Roth shades from Lowes, the kind the auto roll up when giving a slight tug, they fit inside the Fleetwood valance just fine, they were only 2 inch thick, when looking for new shades you must also check how thick it is in the frame when rolled up.
X-2, we had to replace one shade in our coach several years ago. We bought it at Lowes in Lake Havasu City, AZ. they weren't custom (stock) but Lowes employees helped us in making them fit.

  • These are the roller day/night shades. I just got an email back for blinds chalet where I ordered them. United Shades Does have a narrower mounting bracket it's 1.5 inches. This will fit ours fine. They are taking them back and replacing the brackets at no charge except the shipping to them. Good customer service and like I said the quality is good in fact we have an MCD shade which we ordered an installed and these shades are close to the same quality at 1/2 the price. so our future orders will state the 1.5 mount.

  • I installed the United Shade roll shades that I purchased from a different soufce in July of 2011. I knew going in that they wouldn't fit my our 2 3/4" Tiffin valances, but neither would the MCDs at the time without a 1/2" rope extender/filler at the wall. I built new valances out of oak 3 5/8" deep. Total cost of oak for valances, finish and (2)shades/window for 8 windows was $1155. I also mounted the roll shades vertically on the window side of the front face of the top valance board.
  • Expand please.
Did you order from DICOR or through a dealer?
I find DICOR usually easy to work with.
    Type of Shade?
    roller?
    pleated?

I see where DICOR will accept returns for their cellular shades with an RMA that is why I ask
