Hi ,I have a American Appliance water heater model FDSI6 . Does anyone have information on this one ? I'm pretty sure the tank is leaking, but I need to take it apart to check . Trying to find out if it is an aluminum or steel tank and how it all comes apart . Thanks . Rod

I would try to determine where the leak is without disturbing the tank itself. It is possible the leak is where the 110v electric heating element is screwed in. It could be the rubber seal there that needs to be replaced. Or possible the heating element itself. If so, it would be much cheaper than replacing the tank.

Here is a typical 110v heating element.

In most cases, you will be better of replacing something like that vs trying to repair a leaky tank.

I agree with Biscuit ... replace it with a new Suburban and forget about it.

You'd be better serviced by replacing it with a Suburban SW6DE 6 Gallon Water Heater seeing as Suburban IS Morflo/American Appliance.

But if you are looking for parts try these guys.....LINK
