Water leak in pleasure way

I am looking into buying a 2007 pleasure way. During the winter there was a water leak from snow accumulating in the roof top air conditioner. Apparently there is no mold or mildew or minor water stain on the drivers side. Is this a serious issue?

I had one leak incident with my '03 PW. Driving through a series of heavy rain storms over 500 miles of hilly roads. Rain seeped in to a rear cabinet via the a/c. Aside from some damp clothing in that cabinet, no serious nor permanent damage.

Rear lower than the front allows for water run-off from a/c area.
  • Sah,

The best answer may depend on what model of A/C you have.

In our case, our '08 PW Lexor has an Air V A/C (which we quite like for a variety of reasons), but, when it snows, "weather" can accumulate around it - given the roof and A/C design - and we must make provisions for that.

So, what brand of A/C do you have in your unit?

    Cheers.
  • Sometimes A/C gaskets wear out. If pointing the rig slightly downhill doesn't help, then it might be time to unbolt the A/C unit (takes four bolts), replace the gasket on top, and put it back in place. It is tempting to keep tightening the bolts around the gasket, but too tight will destroy it, causing even more leakage.

  • We have a 06 PW on the ford chassis. Just check all roof seams and reseal all with a proper sealant. On
a PW there are not alot of areas for water to penetrate so seal around eveything on top. Also some owners
state they are getting water intrusion through the rear tail light lenses. Check this area also. Good luck.
We just got ours this spring and love it. Pm me if you have other questions. Bob
