Water tank bypass

I was wondering if my 1996 Monaco Dynasty has a water bypass so when you are at shore power and obtaining the water from the park does the water tank have to fill and that is how I get water is from the hose to the tank to the RV or is it from the hose to the RV bypassing the tank? Therefore does the water tank have a bypass built into the plumbing when at a park site? Thank you in advance.

No bypass but then no bypass is needed
Somewhere on the driver's side is a CITY WATER connection (NOTE: There may be a valve nearby you need to set properly, often called "Quick Fill" but any valve with FILL in it's label applies)

Water is supplied to the motor home via a "T" fitting aft of the water pump. So if you have city water there is no need to fill the tank UNLESS. as is my case, the "City" (Park) water is subject to power fail, IF that happens my on-board pump supplies water as needed.. if not, then I get it from the parks' well direct.
  • If it is going into your water tank then you would need to turn on the water pump to use the water. You water tank has an overflow tube so when it is full it will drain on to the ground. It can not pressurize to "push" the water throughout the RV.

Thank you for your responses. A mechanic told me that the plumbing is not set up properly and all water when at camp site is going into the water tank and just wanted to be sure he knew what he was talking about. Thank you again.

  • ALL RV's including yours, The City Water from the CG supply bypasses the Fresh Water Tank and goes direct to your Fresh Plumbing system. To get water to the Fresh Tank, you have to open a valve while on City water to fill or on your 20 year old, you may just have a gravity fill you stick the water hose in. BUT, Most Monaco's have the valve to use the City water to fill the tank. They also have the Gravity fill in your year. You have 2 ways to fill the Fresh tank. This link shows a 2001 Dynasty, but yours should be similar look at page 144. Doug

  • your city water connection will put water right to your plumbing system. If thats what your asking. There will be a valve that allows you to fill the water tank while your in that mode.
  • Unless it's very, very oddly plumbed, you simply connect the hose to the city water connector and you have water in the RV system from the campground without your tank being involved. If you only have one one water connector (no gravity fill port), then you just don't open the fill valve. In either case you leave the RV's water pump turned off.
