What are you towing with your Sprinter?

We have been considering downsizing from a 35ft. Class A to a Sprinter based Class C. We are currently towing a 2008 Jeep Wrangler 2 door I purchased specifically to tow.
My concern is with the weight of the Wrangler and the towing capacity of the Sprinter: GCWR of 15,250 and GVWR of 11,030 for a 2019 Thor 4 Winds 24BL. That leaves little reserve for a 4000lb toad. I am wondering what others are towing but most importantly who may be towing a Wrangler and if any problems or issues have surfaced as a result.

I was looking at a Via and I wanted to pull a Jeep Rubicon at 4500 pounds. I called Winnebago to confirm, but even though it has a 5K hitch, it is not rated to pull 4500 pounds and Winnebago does not recommend it. GCWR - GVWR is the maximum you can tow.

We have a Sprinter chassis class C. It is a delight to drive, but carrying capacity in pounds is not the only problem: storage space is minimal.
We travel often for NOMADS projects. There is no way our tools would fit in the small class C.

The GCWR and GVWR are correct for ANY model/brand built on the Sprinter chassis. Different manufacturers will have differing tow capacities. Our Coachmen Prism has a 5000# hitch, BUT due to the frame extension it is mounted on they drop the tow capacity to 3500#. That said, as noted below we drsg around about 3200#'s of Suby Forester - it handles that just fine. Mileage-wise I get about 15+ mpg with the toad, and almost 16.5 without it, so really not too much of a "drag" on the system. But you do need to watch manufacturers weight ratings...

I am fairly sure the Sprinter will tow the Jeep just fine.....but I am also certain that if you are involved in an accident, your insurance will use the out of spec tow weight against you.
