Working on cleaning etc. I took a winter's worth of fir needles and arbutus (madrona) leaves off the solar panels. A really good clean will wait on the return of a local young man (used to be a neighbours boy but somewhere along the way he grew up). Hope to get a good summer's worth of yard work and chores before he goes away for good. The next crop of young neighbourhood help will be a while--there seemed to have been a 10 year gap in the production of child labour around here--the nearest in age is about 10! I had sort of been counting on the son of a local contractor who is about 13 but they are moving! His dad used to do chores and odd jobs for me 30 years ago!

Installed new Kwikee electric steps to replace the O.E.M. Lippert Coach Steps that always break. Wow! what a difference in stability and operation. Next up is finding the leak from I think is coming from the rear AC mount. No drips but a telltale yellow stain (and purple, weird, where did that come from?)on the padded vinyl ceiling. Tightened the mounting bolts some and seems to made a difference (I can only tell when I pull a couple of ceiling lights down there is water up there). Plan on pulling the AC cover this week though not real sure what I'll be looking at. After this task it will be installing the just arrived via Amazon Roadmaster Steering Staibilizer.

Kwikee motors are much smaller then the Frigette which is now Lippert. Most of your high end coaches had the Lippert and the entry level had the Kwikee.

Installed a Wilson truckers antenna on the roof of the motorhome front cap to give more signal to the Wilson Mobile-Pro amplifier that we use. I thought I was in trouble for a while after I drilled the hole in the roof. There's more aluminum rafters in that front cap than I anticipated, and it was hard to get the antenna cable routed to the passenger side windshield pillar.

The new antenna seems to work well. Looking forward to trying it on the next trip. The little 4 inch antenna that came with the Mobile-Pro helped when attached to the windshield, but that bigger antenna on the roof gets a better signal.

Took it to the tech to have the new warranty replacement heat pump installed.

When done, I just might take it to the vehicle wash at the local coop. Hope I have loonies! (For my foreign friends, a loonie in the Canadian dollar coin, so named for the picture of the loon - a bird - on one side, though some say it was named after the Prime Minister in office when the coin was introduced.)

UPDATE: 6:30 PM the Tech just called, the rig is ready. Just the "minor" issue of the labour costs. Coleman doesn't cover that.

Rain forecast for tomorrow may give the wash a miss.

It's going into the tech tomorrow to replace (on warranty) the Coleman basement heatpump. So since I would need an early start on what might be a drizzly Monday I decided to get things all ready the day before. The rig hasn't moved since winterizing in the fall.

Before pulling the shore power and storing the cords I thought to check things over: NO SHORE POWER incoming. The Maxx fan had been left on, as well as the ham radio in beacon mode. Neither were working, nor were the lights. Not even the LEDs. :E

Switch them off, go check the plug on the shore power extension: Plug hanging loose from the socket. Looks like a deer or a neighbour or what ever had bumped it and partially pulled the plug. It's under tall trees so the solar wouldn't have been able to keep up.

The Xantrex voltmeter was reading nothing. :E again.

Plugged the shore power back in--nothing. (Tripped the breaker down by the house as I discovered later.) Started the Cummins, waited until I could see a decent (13V) on the display and started the Onan 7.5 gen, checked that the Xantrex was charging.

It charged away at 80 Amps for several (4+) hours before tapering. Hmmmm. The max charge rate is set for 96 Amps, max voltage set at 14.8V. Never saw it above 14.0 but I didn't stay there watching it. :h

Once the charge current had reduced (around 30 A at 13.8V) I shut down the gen and moved the rig out of its parking pad into the drive, hooked up Wrangler for towing, ready for morning. After sitting for an hour or two, Xantrex voltmeter reading 12.9 We'll see what it says in the AM.

I know I have seriously damaged these 4 2 year old GSs, how badly remains to be seen. :S

Very nice! Toured the Olympia Brewery when I was a kid back in the 70's. I have some memorabilia for the room where my pool table resides in the home. Still haven't found a nice "stubby" so the search continues! Woodford Reserve is nice too! A camping buddy prefers as you do. It was difficult to get the beer down here for awhile, but it is much easier now!

I have a 1/2 case of stubbies in a box. Empty though. I also have a case and a half of long necks. FULL and one of the cases has never been opened. Haven't found out how old they are.The folks across the street and down a half block retired as the local distributers and you outta see their basement.

Headed for San Diego tomorrow, flying though, to help the daughter get settled in her new condo. Her new favorite store is Ikea ,so I'm taking my trusty rechargeable screwdriver and a magnifying glass to read a lot of instructions.
On the home front, I'm running the genie with a load, scrubbed several awnings and then gonna check for squirrels, got a bunch in the yard, but never found them in the MH and then take it out for a spin around the block. Well about a 25 mile spin.

Rebuilt and replaced the door awning (carefree marquee electric) new motor, and put her all back together and adjusted, works good. Also went around looking for things loose, tightened some slide awning parts, fridge vents, Wilson antenna, etc.

Leaving tomorrow for a long weekend in Holland MI for the tulip festival

Well, I did get at the dewinterising, all the pink stuff out of the water lines. However I had forgotten to buy a new water filter for the ice maker. :S Trip to the RV shop tomorrow.

Then I decided to check the tires. All right up to pressure except the right outside dual which HAD ZERO PSI. :E

Call to check with BCAA: They can send a service truck who would change for the spare if we had one (we don't) or add air and see if it holds. If not they would send a tow truck. Where we park and where we live, at the end of a kilometer of single track road, would make a tow a very difficult operation with too big a risk of damage to the rig.

So I guess we'll see if it holds air. More later. (Perhaps a day or two.)

Fountain Tire showed up this afternoon as promised. Un like the suggestion from BCAA, the tech was prepared to repair on site if needed. Aired it up, changed the valve core, Done. Happy Camper ๐Ÿ™‚

Needed to put the wheel covers on,forgot when we came home from the last trip and it's easier to do it when it's aired up, so took it out to Safeway to top off the fuel tank.Well, not straight there as I managed to get a 30 mile warmup run done and checked to see if I had gotten rid of some of the wind noise from the window drip holes and I did. Anything for a road trip. But the DW keeps complaing about a whistle above 40MPH that I can't hear from the drivers seat and so I'm gonna ask the neighbor who's always wanted to go for a ride with me and see if he can pinpoint it for me. Wow,$2.32 with the .30 discount for diesel. Got it home, put the wheel covers on and dropped the rig.
