What just came off my slide out?

We've had our 1995 Dutch Star for 8 years and when we set up camp 2 weeks ago, there was some orange plastic/waxy stuff that came out from under the slide out as it went back. The parts that weren't crushed seems round as if it went around a hydraulic shaft. Then yesterday when we camped, some more of the same came out from under the slide out on the other side.

I assume this is some type of protective or lubricant for the shafts but there's no way that I can see to get to them. Is this an "Oh well" moment like my wife usually says or is it cause for alarm? Thanks.

I don't have a tile floor, It's a carpeted slide out that moves over a carpeted floor. It looks like I would have to tear a shield off underneath the slide out from the outside. That looks like a fun project.

On mine, I changed from the inside, I have 3 rollers, there are plastic covers in the base of my cabinets.

    Terry.

Just went through that with my Dip. Covering on steel rollers, It is caused by grit and gravel on the floor, It works its way into the soft plastic and eventually cuts it and then falls off. Fix asap, The bare rollers will crack the tile.

  • That old of Newmar, it is the round plastic sheath over the slide rollers. Newmar quit using that color in the late 90's. The replacements are usually gray. Doug
