What to look for and to stay away from

Our MY 2000 HR Vacationer (no slides, F53 chassis) is worth $26,000 according to the NADA web site. But it is "loaded" with 2 A/C, 50 amp electrical, 5.5 Onan, drivers door, suspension goodies, Banks exhaust/intake, satellite dome and 73,000 miles. It may be for sale due to health reasons in July.

In your 1st post you said maybe 2 week vacations a year and than just weekend rest of the year, sounds like your not a full timer, than why so big, 32 to 36 foot with 2 slides would work as good and not so darn long, bigger is not always better if your not full timing..

Also think of what you might tow behind and add that to a 39 foot motorhome..

Doesn't look bad for the year and money. Somebody got a nice unit. Lack of any slides makes it a limited market, hence for someone who doesn't need them it works.

For 3 of you with a $40k budget I would look at an 03-04 Fleetwood Southwind 32V with the Workhorse Chasis.
I just bought in half ownership with a buddy and there are several in the So Cal area for sale right now from $39k-$50k.
For 32' it has a lot of room with the double slide out yet you can get into almost any camp site. With the WH, its a rocket ship.

Here is something for you to try. Go to eBay...motors...rv's and campers.....motorized....class A's.....enter your price range.
I put in 35K to 40K and it came up with 20 units, with the newest being 2007.
Then you go to the left side of the page, and click on "completed listings" to see what actually sold, and for how much. For 35K I found that a 2005 Georgie Boy 38 ft coach with three slides SOLD(2005 GB) and a 38 ft 2005 Winnebago 38J with three slides actually SOLD(2005 Winn).
The point is there is a huge difference between asking and selling price. I think if you shop around you can find newer units in your price range, with low mileage, and with a floor plan you like.
There was even a 2000 DutchStar 3865 that got no nibbles at $35,000.
A 2003 Fleetwood Bounder, with 27,000 miles and no one bought it at $35,900.
Good luck in your search and as the eBay completed listings indicate, it is a buyers market and not too many RV's are selling unless the price is low.
