- knshookExplorerAlthough you might be able to see some attractions in one day that leaves little time to contemplate the majesty and tranquility of it all. The drive in to Kings Canyon is a must. The canyon is deep and the views amazing. Hume lake is a great place to kayak, swim, fish, float.....etc. There are great hiking trails in both parks. The trees of course are jaw droppingly huge and majestic. Sherman and Grant are not to be believed until you see them. I could spend a few hours just walking around Grant Grove alone. Others could spend a half hour and be satisfied. Moro Rock is another site you don't want to miss. The stairs leading up to the top of the rock can make some people a bit squeamish if they don't like heights but they are safe and millions of people have made the climb which is well worth doing. The view from the top is not to be missed. The cave tour is also interesting, and then just walking around the forest in Sequoia is worth as much time as you want to spend. Just being amongst all those giants was enough to keep us satisfied for several days.
We stayed in Lodgepole in Sequoia, and made day trips to different areas. A couple of things to be aware of this year: there are extreme drought conditions and I believe there was some pretty serious road work being done in some areas. Might be a good idea to check their website for road conditions or you might call them.

- the_bear_IIExplorerOur favorite place to stay is a private campground near the town of Three Rivers. It is the Sequoia RV Ranch. New owners took it over a few years ago and have been making improvements. We really enjoyed our last stay there.
It's close enough to drive in to the Nat'l park for the day. Although the park seems spread out most of the great sights to see are confined into a small area. So you can see most of the major attractions easily in one day. - MrWizardModeratorClosest thing to an RV park is the main campground in the southern part of the park
Enter the park from hw180 at the north end
(The southern route from Visalia, best left to cars)
After you enter, go south on Generals highway/Avenue of the Giants
I prefer the north park aka Kings Canyon.. and Sunset campground
The parks have an excellent free shuttle system, there is no need to worry about driving to different scenic features
