Perhaps not the exact response you need but I will try. :)
I recently put a single din with the plastic frame from Crurchfield in my 2007. Looks great! Super easy install. When I was searching on Crutchfield, most that showed as compatable after a search were, as you already know, single din. That said, I seem to recall one or two double dins from Crutchfield but they didn't have the features I wanted or they were much more expensive than the single din options. I could be wrong though. Just checked. More than 20 options but as you said, it requires a modification that doesn't allow for the original stereo to be re-installed.
