I have read a few posts about people replacing their in motion sat with a Winegard Traveler. Curious why they're doing it.
The 2002 KVH dish stopped connecting to the satellite in Jan 2013. KVH said I needed to upgrade to a newer unit!!
Did you check the voltage at the dish? The long run from the battery can cause a drop in voltage along with any weak connections. If the dish has low voltage it will just keep hunting. I found when plugged into shoreline, the generator running, or engine running that the extra voltage was enough to make it work. Drove me crazy. Solution was installing a power supply in the overhead cabinet.
As for the Travler using Direct TV mine had several coax connections and I ran all of them. I did not buy the SWM model so needed two connections to each of my receivers.
If you have any overhead speakers or light fixtures in the area of the roof you are installing the dish remove them for help finding a path for the cables. Using one of the coax cables as a pull wire may be possible but is likely going to be a slow and painful process no matter what.
