Virtual tanks... now there's an idea ;). Maybe use cloud storage?
Tanks are typically blow-molded or rotationally molded. If they're not going to be a pretty standard rectangular shape, they'll require custom tooling. My (total) guess is that the tooling wasn't finished in time to install the tanks, or somebody fudged up & got the dimensions wrong and they wouldn't fit.
