We just had a stone crack our windshield in Our 2006 Holiday Rambler Ambassador. It was done by a mower in our camp ground and they are willing to pay for a new one. Trying to get some idea how much to replace it. It is a one piece.

Just wanted to share my solution for fixing broken windshield. My Good Sam/GMAC insurance recommended Duncan Systems. Main office Elkhart, IN. They do have offices around the US. We just got back with our new windshield and ran through a "gully washer" rain. I am happy to report, NO LEAKS. Their price was $2450.00. Great people to work with. The outlet we worked with does 10 to 15 windshields a week. Once again Good Sam comes through!!!!!!!

If the person that is getting his windshield replaced would let me know how it turned out I would appreciate it. I had a glass repair shop look at my 3" crack, it was determined that because it was on the curve, it could not be repaired.

I just had my new motorhome windshield cracked on the way home from the dealer yesterday. The rock hit it at the base and it cracked upwards about 4" and then went sideways about 3". Being I just bought the MH and insurance policy the day before I am hoping to just get it repaired myself without the insurance involvement.

Will this be possible and about how much would it cost? It is out of my view so stopping the cracking anymore would work also.

The OP stated that the campground will replace the windshield so why should he settle for a repair?

A new one will run $800 to $1300.

Replacing a windshield is major surgery. And, like major surgery, should be avoided unless necessary. On my coach it's not just replacing the windshield...two side supports, both mirrors and other things must be removed, then put back on and resealed.

Replacing a windshield is not "major surgery". It is done every day and the people that replace windshields know how to do it. So, if the OP gets a "repair" and then in a year or two, the repair goes to pot, then the windshield replacement is on his dime.

It is best to have the insurance company do the replacement and be done with it and to heck with the "repair".

Heh in my old coach, I'd take the insurance money and just get the thing sealed/repaired. ๐Ÿ™‚
4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

I have had 3 stone chips repaired, in the last three years, in my two pc. windshields as opposed to replacing both windshields. If done properly they are not very noticeable and prevent a replacement from leaking, etc. My insurance Col. paid for the repair vs. a deductible if glass was replaced. If a problem develops in the future they will replace the windshields.
