Windshield replacement

Our class A suffered a stone chip in the windshield while in Alaska (go figure)and we had the quarter sized chip filled at a Safelight facility. All was well for the past 8 months until now. The chip started to do a straight line move across the entire windshield. Lucky for us it is a two piece and not a single.
Now to the question - has anyone had experience with windshield replacement in the Albuquerque NM area? We are looking for a reputable company and want it done right the first time. We are volunteers at a National Wildlife Refuge and will be here for the next few weeks. Would like to have it replaced before we head back home
  • We have used Nomad Glass before (nomadglass.com) They have a nationwide warranty and are mobile in most areas. Nothing but great service.
  • Your insurance company should pay for this minus any deductible you may have with credit for the chip repair. Call your insurance or Safelite.
  • As far as I know...a chip repair is mostly temporary. I had a local outfit repair a chip...they said it was guaranteed "for life"....what it REALLY meant was if the repair turns out to be a crack leading to replacement, they will give credit for the chip repair $ when the windshield is replaced.

(Gotta use the same company, of course......)
  • I was under then impression that safelite guaranteed their chip repairs for life. Give them a call.
  • Call your insurance company and let them handle it.
My insurance company OKs replacing both sides as the color will not match.
If you don't want to call insurance call Safelight. http://www.safelite.com/Service-Locator.11323.0.html?show=branchlocator_list
If you have your receipt for when they did repair, they should give a discount on replacement.
