Xantrex inverter would not turn OFF???

I have a 2003 Monaco Windsor RV. It has a Xantrex inverter.

Recently, the weather had been quite cold (which may be unrelated to the issue).

In any case, a few days ago I found my RV to have lost all house battery charge. Not sure of anything, I started charging it from 115v, and after a couple of days it charged. I left it on 115v for a few more days as I was busy, and only now I looked closer.

It seems that the inverter is "inverting", however pressing the On/Off button on the inverter remote control inside the cab, does NOT turn it on and off and it stays on!

When I press the on off button on the inverter remote control, nothing happens, and if I long-press it, it makes very quiet short beeps and just refuses to turn off.

As it is inverting, it is running down the battery needlessly.

Since it was late in the day, I reached into the compartment with the inverter and turned off the switch on the inverter itself. I think that it did the trick.

The remote is "RC7 GS".

To help myself troubleshoot it, I tried running the generator and the main engine, none of which made any difference and I was still unable to shut off the inverter with the remote.

My question is, how could this be. is there something that I am missing?

Thanks

Only if there's a draw on it. Otherwise it's idling.
  • He was just guessing there is no battery in the remote, it's powered by the inverter.
  • I ran into this same problem. Pulled out the manual and found that you cannot turn off the inverter while its plugged into AC. Unplug the shore power cord and it will shut off by holding the button in for a few seconds.
  • Sorry, I am confused. What battery in the Xantrex remote control panel.

    Dead battery in the remote.

This is interesting and makes sense (cold weather and old battery). Is the battery inside the remote, like a button cell battery?
  • I have that same system but recently removed it.
Mr. Wizard is correct on resetting it but I believe before you turn the inverter on you must wait for the remote to recognize it.
If you don't have the manuals I believe it will be difficult for you to reset all the settings to properly manage your inverter.
I still have everything including the manuals so if you have difficulty with this you can PM me with your phone number and I'll try to walk you thru getting it operating again.
  • Maye that phone jack type plug has come loose? I think they use a plug that's somewhat like that. mine is newer but it uses one. Is the little led on at the remote?
  • You need to reset the system
Goto the inverter, where it is installed
    Turn off the switch there
    Unplug the remote cable
And for good measure goto batteries and disconnect then
    Wait five minutes
    Connect batteries
    Plug remote cable in
    Turn on inverter switch
