Dishes for the motorhome

My children can attest to the fact that Corelle breaks; as do old style Tonka trucks (I did wonder a bit about my youngest son when he was growing up. One of his nicknames was Dr. Destructo)and much of my collection of Depression glassware which apparently makes apple juice taste better. The thing is it takes some time for all these items to break with the exception of the glassware. That only takes a nanosecond or two:)

I never realised that Melamine wasn't microwave proof but I'm still RV less and confine my home "nuker" dishes to one or two different sized glass plates and stoneware bowls. Guess I'll have to re-educate the man when the RV arrives.

It is possible to break Corelle if you shock it just the right frequency. The don't break easily or often, but we've had a few pieces break over the years.

Corelle is hard to beat. We have some at home that have to be over 25 years old. We normally use paper in the trailer.

I tried melamine and it messed up in the microwave so I got rid of all of them and purchased Corelle. Corelle is great stuff!

I like Melamine also and has some great patterns but don't think it is microwaveable so I use paper and Corelle even though I've yet to see a pattern that I like.

Don't forget yard sales & thrift stores; have even seen them at estate auctions. Saw an 8 place setting set for $5 at a church thrift store last year.

Add me to the corelle group. I have the original "Old Town Blue" pattern.

Also, especially if you have access to an "outlet" mall (corning or pyrex store), matching (or plain white) serving bowls, a couple different sizes of individual setting bowls, platters, and "soup" plates are available. eBay might also be an option.
