enameled dutch ovens

I have an aluminum Dutch Oven that is very handy for traveling. I use it on boat trips and truck camping mostly. It has no legs so it works well on a camp stove. I have used it plenty of times on a fire like for baking a cake. Al does not transfer heat as well as iron, so be careful with the bottom heat.

I bought several pieces of Enamel cast Iron. (It's beautiful)
My wife never wanted them used camping...
Eventually I sold them all.
I have a lot of Cast Iron skillets and D.O.'s
I love cooking with Iron.
When we camp I always carry at least a small D.O. and two cast Iron skillets.

Yes I go overboard with Cast Iron...

I don't have any enamel covered cast but I use cast iron pans that are over a hundred years old for most of my cooking both at home and on the road. A properly seasoned pan can be used for almost anything and is easy to maintain.

Cast iron is very durable and then you can cook on a fire.

We received the Kirkland brand of Le Cruset as a gift. Looks identical and even says made in France on the bottom. Don't know the cost but it works great

I have a Lodge porcelain coated. It works fine on an induction burner.

You need to make sure there isn’t a ridge on the bottom.

Chinese cast iron is know to break and not fit very well.

How much can the cost to manufacture a cast iron pot vary. The only difference is in the MARKETING cost. One brand will work as well as the next.

We have 2. One for camper and one for home. Got the first from Walmart and second from Amazon. Both are 6 quart and cost less than $40.Stopped using the crock pot after getting this.Easy to clean and maintain.
