Cost me 1 dollar

Here is why

I used the wire wheel in my angle grinder first, and a flap disc to smooth
the bottom a little.

I will heat it up in the grill this weekend and burn off any seasoning left on it.

Great find. I watch constantly for CI stuff at yardsales etc. The new
stuff is just not aqs good.

I have about 20 pieces of DO, all sizes of frying pans with and without lids.

Im going to make an electrolysis device which makes them look factory fresh.

Here is a link for some pix.

Okay Vintage465, where is the recipe for Nashville Hot Fried Chicken? I have a whole assortment of DO's that I received from relatives, mostly men who didn't cook after their spouses passed - some of the DO's are older than dirt and I use all of them throughout the year! Shortie

I have two cast iron skillets that belonged to my grandmother. I don't know how old they are as my grandmother died when I was three and I'm 70 now. They're perfectly seasoned. Even eggs don't stick. They also had a "summer kitchen". It was located across the porch and kept the heat out of the living space in the summer. Grandpa never finished the inside of the house, so the studs were visible inside. I drove by it recently and it still stands. Sadly, the barns are crumbling. I could barely make out the "Mail Pouch Tobacco" signs painted on the sides. They painted the whole barns in return for the free advertising.
Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

Outstanding find! That's a chicken fryer. They made them extra deep for more shortening and larger pieces of chicken.

You may like to take that to a Dutch Oven Gathering. There's local DOGs and the big national DOG at the end of this month.

Turn it over. If there is a bead that goes around the bottom of the pan and a number.....don't cook it in. SELL it! Because it is very very old and cast iron pans/pot collectors go ga ga over them AND you even have the lid! :C

I scored 4 old rusted Griswold skillets and one pot at a farm sale and sold them for over 100 each! There's one on ebay right now for $250.00.

Lodge is one of the very desirable ones too. They can be a hundred years old. If a pan has one or more notches in the heat ring, it is likely a vintage Lodge.

Do you have picture of the bottom of pan and lid to post?
