Nesting Cookware

For those who need nesting cookware, Magma provides a great choice. Magma is an upscale provider of high quality, mostly stainless steel, products for the marine community that includes portable grilles and nesting cookware. All of their products are made for the harsh marine environment and are long lasting. While I was in the yachting world, I used their grilles. They are great, but maybe a little pricey for RV use.

The cookware comes in a set of 10 with two accessory items available. The basic set includes two removable handles. The entire set, including the two accessory pieces, can be nested together into a less than ยฝ cu. ft. package. The removable handles must be stored separately.

The set comes in four flavors. Stainless steel non-induction and induction โ€“ stainless steel with non-stick surface non-induction and induction. The non-stick surface is ceramic and called โ€œCeramica.โ€ I use the non-stick induction version and the non-stick surface is very good.

The basic set includes:
10 inch diameter Sautรฉ/ Fry Pan, Lid for Stock Pot/ Sautรฉ Fry Pan, Lid that fits all Saucepans, 1-1/2 qt. Saucepan, 2 qt. Saucepan, 3 qt. Saucepan, 5 qt. Stock Pot, 2 Removable Handles, โ€œBungeeโ€ Storage Cord.

The accessories are a Sautรฉ/Omelette Pan (about 9.75โ€ diameter at the top) with sloping sides for easy flipping and a Stainless Steel Colander, Steamer, Crab & Pasta Cooker.

Aside from the small storage space required, the set is oven safe to 500 degrees F. Since you can remove the handles, you can use this cookware in a RV convection oven with a rotating carousel.

It is very good, but expensive. If you are interested, you can check it out at http://www.magmaproducts.com/index.html. The best prices can most often found at Amazon.

Good Luck!

I have these and love them. Our rig has pretty limited kitchen storage so I got these for the first Christmas after we got our RV. They are perfect for me and I love the way they cook.

No matter where you buy, just look at the Magma web site to be sure you select the version you want -- there are a few. Many of the sites selling this product only have one version.

In addition to the standard set, a Sautรฉ/Omelette Pan (about 9.75โ€ diameter at the top) with sloping sides for easy flipping and a Stainless Steel Colander, Steamer, Crab & Pasta Cooker are available.

I have used all of the set of the non-stick induction version, including the Steamer for lobster and mussels -- fantastic.

The only reason for this post is to recommend that you look at all the options and select the one that fits your desire. It's good stuff.

Good Luck!

I had never heard of this brand. Looking at the price, it does not look that bad. The Costco price is at or equal depending upon the set.

I have the set with the ceramic coating. These pans are worth every penny, and I suspect will last a lifetime. Highly recommended.

If you are interested in this cookware, look carefully at the Magma website before you buy because they make this in several versions that includes stainless steel, non-stick stainless steel and both induction ready and not induction ready.

They have a new non-stick surface with no Teflon. Some sources with very low prices may still be selling the Teflon version.

I have just used the accessory โ€œStainless Steel Colander, Steamer, Crab & Pasta Cookerโ€ to steam mussels. One thing is for sure, Magma doesnโ€™t design for a price point, but for quality and use.

The steamer has a lip that fits tightly on the rim of the 5 quart stock pot and keeps the bottom of the steamer about an inch off the bottom of the stock pot.

The stock pot lid then makes a tight fit to the top of the steamer. All of the steam comes up through the steamer basket and none around it. The space below the steamer holds about 3 cups of liquid. This makes the finest steamer basket I have ever used or seen.

By the way, the mussels were great. If you want the recipe, just ask.

Good Luck!
