cookware

I want to get a new 3 qt pan with a lid. I want it to be heavy gauge stainless steel that works on a NuWave. I am looking at a Farberware pan, which is stainless steel with an aluminum core.
Is Farberware a good brand? Will it last a good while? I don't need it to last a half century, ha ha.

Double ditto. Or cast iron. Or a copper bottom Revere Ware.

Most anything a magnet will stick to will work. Farberware is fine unless you plan on running over it with a truck. Most pots and pans last a long time and though they sometimes get a few small dents but that won't affect it's ability to cook.

You can usually pick up some great pots and pans at yard sales and estate sales. We have a perfectly good set of pots and pans we picked up at a yard sale for $3. They work great.

  • Yes, Farberware is a very good brand(or at least used to be). We received a set as a wedding present almost 44 years ago(close to half a century:)), and have been our household "daily users" ever since. We subsequently also bought some "open stock" Farberware pots that reside in the RV.

  • Get a 3 quart dutch oven. Even the enameled ones work on the induction cooktop. Plus, it will last a long long time....
  • Stainless steel clad will work fine with an induction cooker. The cooker must be in contact with a ferrous metal. As for the brand, I have no idea. For a look at a large selection check Bed Bath and similar entities. Also Amazon.
  • If a magnet won't stick to the bottom of the pot forget using induction cooking.
  • Probably will not work unless it says induction rated. My nice Farberware do not work on mine.
