What sort of pots/pans do folks use in Class Bs, and do you make an effort to save room? Wondering if backpacker equipment would work well. Thinking of getting MSR's Alpine 4 Pot:SetMSR Alpine 4 pot set

I'm not fond of the stack and store pots and pans (or that all share the same handle) - seems I'm always fighting to get the one I want (which is almost always the same one). For me (in a small class C), I just simply limit my pots and pans to the minimum I need. I don't need multiple pots and pans. A 2L pot will heat soup for 1 to 4 people. A 10" fry pan will cook a couple burgers at a time or an egg and a couple slices of bacon. No need to carry a 1L, 2L and 3L pot. No need to carry a 6", 8", 10" and 12" fry pan. For me, I have a 2L pot, 10" fry pan, 4L pot/deep pan (for potluck meals at rallies), and a teapot. They do everything I need whether it's just me or me and three friends. Rather than buy a cookset, I just bought the individual pots and pan that I wanted - cost a little bit more, but saves on room.A friend with one of those really small chinooks uses one of those mess kits with a single person pot, pan, lid/plate, and cup. I end up doing all the cooking if we meet up because she can't fit 2 burgers in her pan or 2 servings of soup in her pot.

A minor thing, but I was in a drug store during my second trip in our Class B, looking for a flashlight, and I came upon a small aisle section of, "As seen on TV" items. They had a non-stick small frying pan with a folding handle. I bought it immediately; very affordable. I thought of it as a novelty at first, but it has served very well for a number of functions, and the folding handle does make a difference. When I travel alone for the antique business, I will get a dinner with leftovers, and heat those for breakfast in the frying pan. So something hot, impressive, and substantive, but really just heat and serve.

I use normal household pots and pans...it's our old stuff.the thin aluminum stuff doesn;t heat evenly esp over gas.as above the nesting and stacking means what ever you want from the set will mean taking it all apart and a shared handle is a bummer try clicking that into place when everything is hot.Mike

I just have electric, so I have a larger electric skillet for 3 years, just got a smaller one, a coffee maker, a toaster. I have a 4 cup plastic measuring thing to heat liquids in the microwave like soup and eat out of it. I eat mostly fresh raw foods anyway. Now that I have a trailer and a permanent campsite I have set up a screen room and bought a table to cook outside if it rains. But each year I look at what I have used, what I have not and leave the "have not" at home.

We use a large and small pot and large and small non-stick frying pans, all of reasonable quality. With that, we can fix anything that we like that doesn't require an oven.In a class B you really don't need to pare your food preparation tools to what you would use car camping or backpacking but that depends on your own tastes in food.

We bought a deluxe Backpacking nested set(3) that has copper bottoms. They all fit very snugly together. Also have a couple of good frypans that sits under them in our p&p drawer. Also a good kettle that's been with me for 40+ years.Then we have a 3 burner Coleman stove that rides in the back under the beds. We also have a Volcano that fits in the outside compartment. This coming season i'm taking a 10" CI Dutch Oven along & just know it'll be used a lot. We rarely cook inside. My only problem is going to be making too much! Hmm, just typing this out makes me want to downsize! Na, not going to happen! LOL.

We also bought cheap Teflon coated pans at Walmart. They work OK. The best suggestion I can give you is to get a little tank mounted 1 burner propane stove and do your frying outside on a picnic table. We never make a cooking mess inside our compact RV.

We use this. It is called Smartspace Cookware. It works on an electric induction cooktop and it stores away very compactly in a Class B.

I bought the cheapest teflon set from Wally World and kept the cardboard that it came with to keep it from scratching while nested together they are in the big pots n pan drawer in the kitchen cabinet. Bought the big folding frypan mentioned earlier. That goes behind the driver seat. Works for us.

Who said you need to cook in a B? I used mine 35 nights last year and the only thing I needed was the microwave to heat up a few leftovers from the precious day restaurant meals. Cooking for 1 stinks and I hate doing dishes.

Oh, and I have two steamer racks that go into my saucepans. I steam all my vegetables as well as some fish.

Our cookware: well, there's the electric coffee pot, electric griddle, folding BBQ Grill, Volcano Grill, and our Dutch Oven. The B has a microwave and for the most part that is it unless a trip has planned some exotic meal calling for a baking dish, cake pan or such.

Technically, I don't have a Class B. But my cookware is limited by space so I carry one non-stick large saute pan, two saucepans and a larger, two-handle pot that I keep bags of flour & rice in when not using it. I've thought about the nesting cookware but think it might be a nuisance in the long run.

We use a 2-pot set from MSR with the pinch-type handle. We had them from backpacking (we now use even a single smaller and lighter pot for our backpacking trips). The handle is readily accessible in the cutlery drawer. We found standard pots with permanent handles too risky in the confined space of a B and inconvenient to store. We also have a non-stick frying pan with a folding handle made by GSI that stacks perfectly under the pots. All that is stored under the sink. We add to that 2 quality knifes and a cutting board and we are set to prepare delicious "home-made" dishes from scratch.
It is the beauty of the B to be able to prepare meals just like at home, almost.

I carry 2 frying pans, small and large; 2 sizes of sauce pans. I also have a MSR Alpine 4 Pot stacking set left over from my backpacking days. The MSR is stored away in my B but, I've never had the need to use it.
