Son is going to be in New Orleans for a meeting and asked what kind of beer I wanted him to bring me back. Looks like about 6-7 craft breweries in that area, which if any can/bottle their beer and if there are multiple choices which one should I choose??? Need local imput.

Agree it's a good brew, but it's availble in our area. I can buy it at Kroger like bud (as if) I'm looking for a small local brewery that bottles or can for local distribution. Has to be out there, as big as the market and area is is.
Think (& drink)local !

Go with your son and while he is at his meeting, you go find a beer to take back.

I've never heard of Abita, but, it's beer so it can't be bad. ๐Ÿ™‚

well, Abita is like water. If you like a darker richer beer you might not like Abita. It's like a cheap local brew, kinda like what Narragansett (Nasty Narre) is to RI. Watery, blah.

I'm not a local, but if I were you I would just pick something and try it. That's part of the fun of craft beers. Over time I've come to favor ambers, stouts and porters. So I'm willing to try anyone's offerings of these.

Only problem is the OP is relying on someone to bring some beer to him as HE IS NOT going to New Orleans.
He is looking for a recommendation as to which beer he should ask for and which breweries bottle.

There's this really cool thing called the Internet. Do you think that any of these micro breweries don't have web sites with their offerings listed?...

and do you really think they don't all say theirs is the best? I want somebody's opinion who does not have skin in the game.

I went to New Orleans only to get onto a cruise ship so I didn't get much time to check out a brewery. Here's some info that may help you http://www.beeradvocate.com/place/city/11/

Now, if you ever come to Michigan, I can help you out. We have some great ones here.

And I will be happy to respond with recommendations from the central Virginia area if you find your way down here. Thanks!

But he is looking for our opinions. I believe he knows how to search the net.
