Yes, it works. Get a jar of quality kraut and drain it. Fill with water and shake and drain, 2 more times.
If it is long and stringy, cut into one inch pieces, OTW, dump into your BBQ sauce and baste as usual. It sticks to your item of choice and you end up with a thicker layer of sauce.
As always, low and slow is more bettah..... than too close to your coals.
