- happynowExplorerI am not aware of a Soy Sauce substitute.
I dont know what you are using it for but I have used a Worcestershire in place of SS (I was out)for a meat marinade and another time in a stir fry.
It tasted good -different flavour- with less sodium that I prefer. I use a store brand, it contains no soy.
Hope this helps... - swtgranExplorerBraggs liquid aminos

It is found in the same section of the market as the soy sauce. I haven't read the bottle but it was our recommended "substitute."
- skipncharExplorerI can only tell you that Soy Sauce is NOT a good substitute for "Worcestershire sauce" when making a bloody mary. Neither is it a good idea to not put your glasses on when mixing one :)
- Big_KatunaExplorer IIYou can get low sodium soy sauce. We use fish sauce a lot.
- BajaLindaExplorerI use the low sodium one but still really high in sodium. Fish sauce is even higher! Love them both just have to really limit them.
- Leo_BensonExplorerCoconut aminos is what I bought when I went soy-free. It's closer in taste than fish sauce, which is another option. The coconut aminos is made from fermented coconut palm bark, I believe. You can order from amazon or get it in Whole Foods.

Great stuff...can't taste the difference - magnusfideExplorer IIThanks much, Leo. I looked up the coconut aminos and this looks promising.
Apologies to all - let me be more specific:
We need a substitute for soy sauce that is similar in flavor but has no soy.
Tamari and Braggs are both made from soy. - swtgranExplorerLeo Benson, thank you for that info. Not thrilled the Braggs is a soy product, so it is used sparingly. This sounds like a good option. terry r.
