A heads-up for B&N Nook owners.

FWIW B&N has come out with a new series of Nook devices, and these are based on the Samsung Galaxy Tab tablets. A much better design than any of the older Nook tablets. IMO anyway.

The good part is that you can get $50 off the new Samsung tablets if you trade in an old Nook tablet, or have proof of purchase.

I just got the Samsung Galaxy Tab E 9.6 for $169. An excellent price.

Here's the link: B&N Nook Trade-in.

I traded in a Nook HD+ that seemed like a good device when I bought it several years ago, but the fact was that it was plagued with problems, including freezes that could only be cleared by resetting to factory specs. Which of course erased/reset all your data. Not good. Glad to see it out the door.

Anyway, just a heads-up for any interested parties.

    Thanks for the info !
So, you can either bring your old Nook or just show a receipt and still keep the old tablet ?
I'm not sure about the receipt. I thought I saw something about "proof of purchase" but I'm not sure.

I just went this morning and traded my old Nook HD+. It took a while because the people there knew nothing about it. I had to direct them to the B&N website to show them about the discount. :)

You can also get the Nook app, to use on any fully functional Android device or PC. No need to buy a dedicated device.
Sure can, but if you can get $50 off a new tablet, that's a pretty good deal. If you're in the market for a new tablet.

I have no desire for any of the Nook apps since I use a Kindle DX reader, I just thought it was a heck of a good deal for a new tablet. And that's the great thing about this: It's not a dedicated device, it's a Samsung Galaxy Tab E with the Nook apps loaded. Other than the apps it's a normal Tab E.
  • The previous gen were also Samsung Galaxy Tablets. My current one is a Nook branded Galaxy Tab 4. The replacement is the Tab A.
