AV System primer

If I could sit in your rig for like 30 minutes I could likely design something but as it is we get to play 20 questions...

now... You said a dual cassette.. this shounds like a house "Deck" not a dash radio.. If it is then here is a recommendation.

You need a good house radio with Sirus capability, Best buy has dozens of these on the shelf.. Any good system will do.. These run on 120vac.

You need a DVD or Blue-Ray player with A/V output These will also play CD's.

You need a new HDTV.. If you do not have sat-TV then feed the Blue-Ray's HDMI direct to the TV, feed the Right and Left (Red and White) A/V leads to the home theater/radio's AUX input (or CD input if it has one).

As I said this is all easier hands on. But it is all off the shelf at any Audio/Video department.

You have a DVD player and a TV. If you want Sirius get the portable. This is the most cost effective solution. A quick search comes up with no home entertainment systems that include DVD and a Sirius tuner. Most stand alone satellite radio home receivers are big bucks and all you are getting is the radio.

I took another look, it is NOT dual cassette as I thought. It says "Executive 4000" on it, single cassette player with AM/FM and although we haven't hooked up a TV, there is a jack right behind that looks like a standard AV screw plug like my cable in my home has. I did realize that the portable sirius is a better option, as I can move it from the truck when we are mobile, to the trailer. However, I'd still like to upgrade it to play CD's and be able to have an AV jack for my iPod/iphone. It would seem that all I really need then is a simple tuner, old school like I have at home. Is this right? I won't be able to listen to DVD's through the built in speaker system however?
