I stand corrected. Both K & Z are DVR ready, requiring external hard drive.
So what is the difference between the two ?
The 211k has a coax output for a second TV. The 211z has a component output for a second TV. May be other differences. The 211z is the newer model.
In my case the coax output of the 211k is preferable as it allowed me to connect the bedroom TV to the 211k using the existing internal trailer coax wiring, and not having to find a way to get a component cable from the living area TV to the bedroom TV.
The ViP211z does not have a component output. I know this as fact because I compared the two models, k and z. Our MH requires a component output. I had been looking at HDMI to component adapters in order to connect a z to our front TV. DIsh sent me two k boxes so I didn't need an adapter.
Another difference between the two models is that the k has an input for an over the air antenna connection. This will permit the box to show the local over the air channels in the program guide. If you add an external hard drive you would be able to record the local OTA channels as you would the satellite channels.
