I'm looking for advice/input/suggestions regarding my plan to purchase a Wilson Electronics #460108 4G booster kit.We travel during the winter and occasionally encounter instances when I cannot get a cell phone or broadband signal.Verizon is my carrier.I have talked to several other snowbirds and they have Wilson equipment to eleviate this problem.Would love feedback from others who have had success resolving signal issues while traveling.Thanks,

Depends. Weak signal an amplifier will give 1 or 2 bars more. No service nothing is going to help. Wilson is good equipment but there are others out there just as good for less money.

In our RV we use a 12V Wilson cellular amplifier fed by a Wilson cellular antenna on the roof of the RV. Using this setup I can often get Internet access with no bars showing on our cellular phones. With bars showing on the phones, our Wilson setup will often boost what the phones show by one or two bars. Just because a phone shows no bars does not mean there's no signal present. Always try cellular amplification equipment even though no bars show on phones, as oftimes there's cellular signals present that a phone cannot detect but can be amplified enough to access the Internet through cell tower systems.

I've used wilson amps for years and while there are places they won't get me a useable signal it is a rather rare occurance. Very often we are at places with no bars and the wilson will give me several bars. add a directional yagi antenna and search for a good signal if all else fails. and use SHORT cables to the antenna or permaent mount low loss cable. cheap long cable can have more loss than you gain from the amp. Be wary of some of the ebay external antennas, the y come with 25-50 ft of very losy cable, one I saw had more cable loss than the amplifier gain.

I use the Wilson Sleek for my Verizon along with a JetPack. Also the 12 inch Wilson antenna on the roof. It has been working great wherever we go.

I have a Wilson Amp with an Omni mag mount antenna here at home which is providing this connection to the internet.Made all the difference in the world for my remote location (15 miles to nearest cell tower, through trees and over hills.)The bars only tell you your reception strength of the higher cell tower Tx. By comparison, the mobile device has very little power output to get back to the tower. The Wilson amp increases that output power to 3 watts (I think).

I recently bought the Wilson Mobile 4g with a trucker antenna. Increased my data HUGE !

Very , Very happy with it !

I'm looking at the new Wilson sleek 4g model. I have my old one back when there was only 3G and now I have a new 4G MiFi model. It has worked great in the past

yes, and it will work with a voice only band phone as well. and it will work in areas w/o 4g as well.

and your 4g phone will work with a 3G amp as well only give you 3G coverage.

something to consider. Usually, if you NEED a amp to get coverage, there is a high chance you will NOT get 4g anyway, far enough away from a 4g coverage area, and end up with 3G at best

Will change in the future as 4G gradually replaces 3G everywhere, but so far my experience is when I need an amp it's usually only in a 3G coverage area.

Depends on model of booster. I think the OP has the Mobile PRO 4g. This unit does work on most US 4g networks. Might not work on Sprint Spark 4g. Other Sprint, AT&T, Verizon and TMobile should be OK.

Most 4g versions of the Sleek are 4g network specific. There is one version of the Sleek that will do most 4g US networks. All 4g Sleeks will do all US 3g and 1x networks (with exception to two dead technology's).

I have unlimited data grandfathered also -- it applies to whatever signal is available where you are -- 3G or 4G. I no longer buy phones from Verizon on contract (would lose unlimited). I buy my phones off craigslist or swappa, new or a few months old.
