Check IF Your Email or Online Accounts Have Been Compromised?

Paranoia runs rampant. I have been using computers and the Internet since before WWW's. We used drop boxes fashioned in dark corners of corporate computers. I downloaded files from BBS's, (BillBoards)I ran searches using Archie and Veronica that took two days to return you a list of possible matches. In all that time I have picked up only one virus/trojan. Yes, I have been lucky but I have also been careful. I know people who still refuse to shop online or pay bills using their computer. During the length of time I picked up that one virus, I have had my mailbox robbed, stealing several of those "complmentary" access checks issued by credit card companies and cashed to the tune of several thousand dollars. I have had my credit card number stolen on more occasions than I can count, almost always traced back to a business or restaurant and only once through an online source. So when you think about shopping online and all the "dangers" presented there, think about happily handing your credit card to someone who disappears for several minutes with it. I, for one, welcome any and all tips and tricks and rarely pass an opportunity to use a service obviously designed to help me.

No, more annoying than anything else. If you stop and think about it, sites like these search through millions of known records. Not fun doing so manually?

If your logins were compromised, and now part of a hacker's group list, then at worst, your accounts and/or emails could have already been hacked, and you don't even know it? Or, at minimum, your accounts haven't been breached but your email is now widely circulated, and sold in bulk to spammers who peruse such hacker sites for legitimate email addresses.

Saw my PW listed even though I use two factor authentication.

Just to be safe, I changed it, and re-set up the authentication to new keys and app passwords. Time consuming, but far less time consuming than dealing with a major intrusion.

Sometimes I wonder why I waste my time posting info that would be of benefit? :S If you'd take the time to do some research, you'd know that these are not phishing sites, but recommended by legit sources.

Don't you guys ever send e-mail, register on a forum, buy anything online? Your return e-mail address is open to see. It's probably visible all over the net. What's the big deal? As long as you don't put in your password, all that is likely to happen is that you may get spammed a bit.
