- tatestExplorer III had used Firefox on Windows for many years, until a few months ago it let a ransomware pop-up stomp on it, so I deleted Firefox and all its files, and switched to Chrome on my Windows computer (which still has also Edge and Internet Explorer).
As a Chromecast user, Chrome had been my secondary browser on all systems, with Firefox as primary on Windows, Safari on Max and iOS devices. Chrome is now primary on Windows, Safari on Apple computers. - T18skyguyExplorerfj12ryder, I admit I'm trying to make myself feel better about e-addiction by saying it's good. I spend far too much time on the computer, and I don't even do Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or any of the social media sites. If anyone else feels they spend too much time on the computer, I would like to know how you discipline yourself off it. As far as them tracking us and stuff, I recently saw an article on how china does it. If I can find it, I'll post it. It makes our country look like it does nothing compared to them.

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. - T18skyguyExplorer

Ah, but there are so many advantages of letting Google make things easier. I am an "all things Google" user at this point and find it quite helpful. The integration of their products is slick.
I'm getting fed up with Firefox too.... BUT I don't think I could switch to Chrome which is 'all things google'. I don't want google embedded in a my browser tracking, collecting and selling everything I input.
And most if not all alternatives are headed the same direction, Microsoft for sure with Edge and a Microsoft account and Microsoft cloud in their effort to be integrated like Google across all platforms.
There are certainly possible downsides to this knowledge that companies have about us, but I have yet to see one that out weighs the advantages. It's not like I have anything to hide or that isn't already known by my credit card company, Amazon, etc, etc.
If this bothers you, stay away from new technology. But you will be missing some really helpful applications.
I would agree. Google is far superior in many ways. Take for instance their voice search, which I use constantly. Anyone who says Siri or Bing can compete really hasn't used them all. The difference in power is so vast, that I feel Siri is for children, but Bing is just a few notches above Siri. We all have to be owned, either partly or in whole, by these tech companies. Who owns you is the one you spend the most time on. Most of us are owned by multiple tech companies. Even this site owns a little bit of me. It's a good thing. - ralphnjoannExplorer

Correct. Opera is a browser; DuckDuckGo is a search engine. - babockExplorer
